ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions awarded follow-up contract – start-up planned for fall 2016
The Hungarian fertilizer manufacturer Nitrogénmüvek Zrt. is extending its cooperation with plant engineering specialist ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions. A granulation plant with a capacity of 1,550 tons per year of ammonium nitrate (AN) or 1,960 tons per year of calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) is to start operation in Pétfürdö, roughly 100 kilometers south west of Budapest, in fall 2016. ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions will handle engineering and procurement of the process plant. The customer will carry out installation on site.
Nitrogénmüvek Zrt. is the only fertilizer producer in Hungary that manufactures its own ammonium. In Pétfüdö the company operates – amongst others – an ammonium nitrate plant, with a second currently under construction. Both plants are equipped with Uhde vacuum neutralisation technology and will produce the feedstock for the new AN/CAN granulation plant. “This is the second new contract in twelve months aimed at expanding production capacities at the Pétfürdö site. We are pleased that Nitrogénmüvek Zrt. is once again putting its faith in our expertise,” says Dr. Hans Christoph Atzpodien, CEO of ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions.
The world’s population is growing, and with it demand for food. But the amount of arable land available is limited. “Our advanced fertilizer plants make an important contribution to increasing productivity in the agricultural sector and conserving resources in the production of staple foods,” says Dr. Hans Christoph Atzpodien.
ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions is the amalgamation of ThyssenKrupp Resource Technologies (created by the merger of ThyssenKrupp Fördertechnik and ThyssenKrupp Polysius) and ThyssenKrupp Uhde. The previously separate plant construction companies in the ThyssenKrupp Group were combined in January 2014 to better utilize global market opportunities. Operations are managed by the business units Process Technologies and Resource Technologies. Process Technologies is focused on engineering, procurement and construction of chemical, refinery and other industrial plants, while Resource Technologies offers a comprehensive product portfolio and a wide sales and service network to customers in the mining, cement, mineral processing and materials handling industries.
