Yara has awarded to Pöyry the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) services assignment for a project aimed at increasing capacity of fertilizer production in Porsgrunn, Norway. Pöyry’s scope of work includes engineering, procurement services, construction management services and the overall coordination and management of the project. The assignment started early January 2015 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2016.
NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Potash (Potassium)) and calcium nitrate are key value-added fertilizers in Yara’s product portfolio, which benefit cash crops in particular. Yara will with this project increase production of Calcium Nitrate fertilizer products at their existing Yara Porsgrunn facilities. Expansions / modifications in both the existing NPK2 and NPK3 plants as well as in the existing calcium nitrate plant will be required to obtain such increase. Additional storage facilities are also required and the services described will also support such additional storage facilities.
“This project is a continuation of the long-term partnership between Yara and Pöyry. The project strengthens Pöyry’s position in Norway and further contributes to our strategic position as an EPCM service provider for the global chemicals industry”, says Kay Radtke, Pöyry’s Head of Chemicals & Biorefining.
The value of the order is not disclosed. The order will be recognised within the Industry Business Group order stock in Q1/2015.
